Can you mix fully synthetic with semi synthetic oil?

As a general rule of thumb, we don't recommend mixing different oils. However, nothing detrimental will occur if you mix synthetic oil with either semi-synthetic or mineral oil. If this was your only option, mixing oils would be better than running out of oil and potentially causing damage to your engine. If your car manufacturer has recommended a semi or fully blend oil, it's best to stick with that.

How much oil does it take to top up a car?

To get an idea of how much oil you need; the gap between the marks on the dipstick usually represents around 1 litre of oil, so you know that if your oil mark was at the minimum, you need around a litre to top it up.

How do I know when I need to change my oil?

You’ll know when this happens if the colour of your oil is black and gritty, your engine is louder than normal, you can’t remember when you last changed your oil, or your check engine light won’t go away. Also, if you keep topping up your oil and the level keeps dropping quickly, then your oil is probably too old and needs to be changed.

What happens if you never change oil?

The most common thing that happens is that the parts in your engine will become too hot. This will cause the engine to run less efficiently, and as time goes on, it can cause the engine components to warp and wear out. ... Eventually, if the oil is not changed, the entire engine will shut down and have to be replaced. Not good!

Hazards & Warnings

Causes skin irritation. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Causes serious eye damage. Use PPE, handle with care and keep out of reach of children and pets.

How To Find The Correct Engine Oil For Your Vehicle

It's very important to check your car owner's manual, as it contains the specific oil grade, viscosity, and specifications that your manufacturer recommends for the country and climate your car was made to drive in. This is the only reliable source to determine the exact spec and grade that your vehicle needs. These details aren’t random - they’re based on how your engine was designed, the performance it requires, and the climate conditions your car was built to handle, so getting the oil spec right is important. Using the wrong oil can affect fuel efficiency, increase engine wear, and even shorten your engine’s lifespan. That’s why the car owners manual should always be your first reference poin and not guesswork, advice from friends, or online lookup charts.
